📍 कल्पनाबाट यथार्थमा: पहाडको मुटुबाट जाने सडक
एक समय थियो, जब नेपालको पहाड भित्र बसेका हजारौँ परिवारहरूको लागि “सडक” केवल सपना थियो। तर आज त्यो सपना बिस्तारै पुष्पलाल मध्यमपहाडी लोकमार्गको रूपमा यथार्थ बन्दैछ।
👉 २६ वटा जिल्लाका २१५ भन्दा बढी बस्तीहरूलाई जोड्ने यो १,८७९ किलोमिटर लामो लोकमार्ग नेपालको समावेशी विकासको backbone बन्दैछ।
🌱 १. जीवनशैलीमा क्रान्ति: सडकले जुराएको सम्भावना
🚶♂️ यात्रा छोटियो, जीवन सहज भयो
- पहिले २ दिन लाग्ने यात्रा अब ४ घण्टामा पुग्न सकिन्छ।
- बिरामीलाई रातभर डोकोमा बोकेर लैजानुपर्ने बाध्यता हटेको छ।
👩⚕️ स्वास्थ्य सेवा पहुँचमा
- रोल्पा, रुकुम, भोजपुर, संखुवासभाजस्ता दुर्गम जिल्लामा अब एम्बुलेन्स पुग्न थालेका छन्।
- अस्पतालको औषधि, चिकित्सक र उपकरण ढुवानी सहज भएको छ।
🎒 शिक्षामा अवसर
- शिक्षकले विद्यालयमा समयमा पुग्न थालेपछि पढाइको गुणस्तरमा सुधार।
- धेरैजसो बालबालिकाले नियमित स्कुल जान थालेका छन्, केहि ठाउँमा कलेज खोल्ने चर्चा सुरु।

- नयाँ सडक नजिकै पसल, पेट्रोल पम्प, होटल खुल्दैछन्।
- धेरै युवाहरू विदेश जानुको सट्टा गाउँमै पिकअप, ट्रक, रेष्टुरेन्ट सञ्चालनमा लागेका छन्।
🌄 ३. पर्यटन र पहिचान: सौन्दर्यको समावेश

- मध्यपहाडी क्षेत्रको सौन्दर्य – झरना, नदी, डाँडा, गाउँ – पर्यटकका लागि आकर्षण।
- पोखरा–रोल्पा, भोजपुर–इलाम जस्ता खण्डमा साइकल, ट्रेकिङ र मोटर ट्रिप को सम्भावना।
📸 गाउँको कथा संसारमा
- सडकसँगै इन्टरनेट, बिजुली, मोबाइल सेवा पुगेपछि स्थानीय युवाले युट्युब, टुर गाइडिङ, र ग्राफिक डिजाइनजस्ता काम गर्न थालेका छन्।
🛠️ निर्माणको प्रगति
मध्यपहाडी लोकमार्ग (पुष्पलाल लोकमार्ग) को हालसम्मको निर्माण प्रगतिनिम्नानुसार छ।
कुल लम्बाइ र क्षेत्र:
- मध्यपहाडी लोकमार्गको कुल लम्बाइ करिब १,८७९ किलोमिटर छ, जुन पाँचथरको चियोभञ्ज्याङबाट सुरु भई बैतडीको झुलाघाटसम्म फैलिएको छ। यो राजमार्गले नेपालको मध्यपहाडी क्षेत्रका २४ जिल्लाहरूलाई जोड्छ।
- हालसम्म लोकमार्गको सम्पूर्ण ट्र्याक खोल्ने कार्य लगभग पूरा भएको छ। धेरैजसो खण्डमा सडकको आधारभूत संरचना तयार भइसकेको छ।
- करिब ४६२ किलोमिटर सडक पहिल्यै अन्य आयोजनामार्फत कालोपत्रे भइसकेको छ।
- मध्यपहाडी लोकमार्ग आयोजनाअन्तर्गत थप १२९ किलोमिटर सडक कालोपत्रे भएको छ।
- हाल विभिन्न खण्डमा कालोपत्रे, ग्राभेल, नाली निर्माण, र पुल निर्माणको काम तीव्र गतिमा भइरहेको छ। उदाहरणका लागि, बागलुङ खण्डमा १३५ किमी मध्ये ५८ किमी कालोपत्रे भइसकेको छ, र बाँकी खण्डको ठेक्का प्रक्रिया पूरा भएको छ।
- आयोजनाको समग्र भौतिक प्रगति करिब ४२% भएको अनुमान छ। पश्चिम खण्डमा (बागलुङदेखि बैतडीसम्म) ६०% भन्दा बढी काम सम्पन्न भएको छ।
- आर्थिक वर्ष २०६४/६५ देखि निर्माण सुरु भएको यो आयोजनामा हालसम्म ३९ अर्ब ९० करोड रुपैयाँभन्दा बढी पुँजीगत खर्च भएको छ।
- चालू आर्थिक वर्षमा पनि १२ अर्बभन्दा बढी बजेट विनियोजन भएको छ, जसमध्ये ठूलो हिस्सा खर्च भइसकेको छ।
- मुआब्जा वितरण विवाद, निर्माण सामग्रीको अभाव, र कठिन भौगोलिक अवस्थाका कारण केही खण्डमा ढिलाइ भएको छ।
- जाजरकोटको मन्ताभिर जस्ता क्षेत्रमा कडा चट्टानका कारण निर्माणमा कठिनाइ देखिएको छ।
- सिन्धुपाल्चोक जस्ता केही खण्डमा निर्माण नसकिँदै सडक भत्किने समस्या देखिएको छ।
- पछिल्लो जानकारीअनुसार, बागलुङको बाङ्गेचौर–उपल्लाचौर खण्डमा स्तरोन्नति र कालोपत्रेको काम भइरहेको छ।
- दैलेख खण्डमा १२६ किमी मध्ये ४० किमीको टेन्डर बाँकी छ, र स्थानीय अवरोध हट्दै गएको छ।
- अछाममा ६० किमी मध्ये ८ किमी मात्र कालोपत्रे बाँकी छ।
- सरकारले यो आयोजनालाई वि.सं. २०८०) सम्ममा पूर्ण रूपमा सम्पन्न गर्ने लक्ष्य राखेको थियो तर केही खण्डमा ढिलाइका कारण यो समयसीमा प्रभावित भयो।
⚠️ ४. चुनौतीहरूसमेत छन्, तर आशा हराएको छैन
- कतिपय खोलामा पुल नबन्दा यातायात अवरुद्ध हुन्छ।
- असहज भूगोलका कारण केही भागमा निर्माण ढिलाइ भइरहेको छ।
- वर्षातका बेला बाढीले सडक बिगार्ने समस्या।
तर यति हुँदाहुँदै पनि, यो सडकले जनताको मनमा विकासको चेतना र आत्मबल जगाएको छ।

📍 From Fantasy to Reality: A Road Through the Heart of the Mountains
- There was a time when “roads” were just a dream for thousands of families living in the mountains of Nepal. But today, that dream is slowly becoming a reality in the form of the Pushpalal Mid-Hill Highway.
👉 This 1,879-kilometer-long highway, connecting more than 215 settlements in 26 districts, is becoming the backbone of Nepal’s inclusive development.
🌱 1. Lifestyle Revolution: The Potential of Roads
🚶♂️ Travel shortened, life made easier
- A journey that used to take 2 days can now be completed in 4 hours.
- The obligation to carry patients on a stretcher overnight has been eliminated.
👩⚕️ Access to Health Services
- Ambulances have now started reaching remote districts like Rolpa, Rukum, Bhojpur, and Sankhuwasabha.
- Transportation of hospital medicines, doctors, and equipment has become easier.
🎒 Opportunities in education
- The quality of education has improved as teachers have started reaching schools on time.
- Most children have started going to school regularly, and there is talk of opening colleges in some places.
📈 Economic growth: Prosperity based on local resources
🚜 Prices of agricultural products have increased
- “Vegetables grown in the fields are now in the Kathmandu market” – happiness on the faces of farmers!
- Ginger, cardamom, corn and vegetables from districts like Sankhuwasabha, Dailekh, and Salyan have started reaching the wholesale market.
🛒 Business and self-employment
- Shops, petrol pumps, and hotels are opening near new roads.
- Many young people are starting to operate pickups, trucks, and restaurants in their villages instead of going abroad.
🌄 3. Tourism and identity: Incorporating beauty
🏞️ Adventure and green tourism
- The beauty of the mid-hill region – waterfalls, rivers, mountains, villages – is an attraction for tourists.
- Possibility of cycling, trekking, and motor trips in sections like Pokhara-Rolpa, and Bhojpur-Ilam.
📸 Village Story in the World
- With the arrival of the internet, electricity, and mobile services along with roads, local youth have started doing things like YouTube, tour guides, and graphic design.
🛠️ Construction Progress
- The construction progress of the Mid-Hill Highway (Pushpalal Highway) so far is as follows.
Total Length and Area:
- The total length of the Mid-Hill Highway is about 1,879 kilometers, which starts from Chiyobhanjyang in Panchthar and extends to Jhulaghat in Baitadi. This highway connects 24 districts in the mid-hill region of Nepal.
Track Opening Work:
- So far, the entire track opening work of the highway has been almost completed. The basic infrastructure of the road has been prepared in most sections.
Blacktopping and Upgrading:
- About 462 kilometers of road have already been blacktopped through other projects.
- An additional 129 kilometers of road have been blacktopped under the Mid-Hill Highway Project.
- Currently, blacktop, gravel, drainage, and bridge construction work is underway at a rapid pace in various sections. For example, 58 km out of 135 km in the Baglung section has been blacktopped, and the contracting process for the remaining sections has been completed.
Physical Progress:
- The overall physical progress of the project is estimated to be about 42%. More than 60% of the work has been completed in the western section (from Baglung to Baitadi).
- Budget and Expenditure:
- The project, which began construction in the fiscal year 2064/65, has so far incurred a capital expenditure of more than Rs 39.9 billion.
- More than Rs 12 billion has been allocated in the current fiscal year, a large part of which has been spent.
Challenges:
- Compensation distribution disputes, shortage of construction materials, and difficult geographical conditions have led to delays in some sections.
- Construction has been difficult in areas such as Mantavhir in Jajarkot due to hard rocks.
- Some sections such as Sindhupalchowk have seen problems with road collapse before construction can be completed.
Current Status:
- According to the latest information, the upgrading and blacktop work is underway on the Bangechaur-Upallachaur section of Baglung.
- The tender for 40 km out of 126 km in the Dailekh section is pending, and local obstacles are being removed.
- Only 8 km out of 60 km in Achham are left to be blacktopped.
Target:
- The government had set a target to complete this project by BS 2080), but this deadline was affected due to delays in some sections.
⚠️ There are challenges but hope is not lost
- Transportation is disrupted due to the lack of bridges over some rivers.
- Construction is being delayed in some sections due to the rugged terrain.
- There is a problem of flooding during the rainy season.
- Despite this, this road has instilled development awareness and self-confidence in people's minds.

- The Pushpalal Madhyampahadi Lokmarg is not just a road —
- it is a feeling,
- it is the beginning of a new era in the heart of the mountains.
